Conjunction Recordings label Catalyst.AD returns to the imprint with four varied cuts of drum and bass.

Since founding the label, Catalyst.AD has continued to develop his signature sound of drum and bass spanning minimal, techstep, and liquid. By referencing golden-age sonic combinations and revitalising them through contemporary production standards, Catalyst.AD has managed to define himself with a sound that is equally authentic and refreshing.

Opening with the title track, Catalyst.AD draws from a palette steeped in the sounds of techstep and liquid from the turn of the millennium. A syncopated drum pattern and weighty 808s lay the foundation for a harmonious soundscape characterised by dissonant dubbed-out stabs and heavenly pads, vocals, and strings.

The second track, Think Too Much, expands on the techstep motifs introduced in the previous tune. Crunchy, off-kilter drums and a dirty reese bass construct a brooding atmosphere which is further darkened by haunting pads and breathy effects.

Guardian switches up the energy with two-step breaks acting as the foundation for the track, echoing musical changes of the mid-90s shift from jungle to drum and bass. Ethereal vocals and dubby vocal chops, ragga vocals, and dub sirens and juxtaposed against layered breaks, pads, and jazzy sax lines; introspective yet raw.

What Shall Be closes the release with a contemporary liquid stepper. Tight top-end percussion dances around metronomic drums and a smooth bassline carried by 808s, all tied together with meditative pads and strings.
